Bio

Danai Fuengshunut (1974) obtained his bachelor in design from the Willem de Kooning Academie (WdKA) in Rotterdam the Netherlands in 2000. From 2000 – 2014 he work as as an Illustrator. Clients were primarily editorial publishers.

In 2002 he obtained his first degree teacher status at the Hogeschool Rotterdam (HR). From 2002 till 2005 he worked part time as a teacher and coordinator of the cultural program at Roncalli Mavo Rotterdam. He designed the current school logo of Roncalli Mavo.

In 2004 he started teaching at the WdKA. He started with painting courses and assisting graduation year Illustration students. From 2007 till 2012 he developed a minor program painting. From 2006 he became course director of the department of Illustration. From 2011 till 2013 he was part of the ‘development team’ that developed a new project based curriculum for design education at the WdKA.

In 2014 he obtained his Masters in Education (Learning and Innovation) at the HR. His main interests in education are; project-based education, collaborative learning,  self-regulation and Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). From 2015/2016, and 2018/2019 he was member of the ‘Rotterdam Counsil for Arts & Culture’ (RRKC).

Since January 2018 Danai became the coordinator of the Education Station (ES) at the WdKA. This is the learning centre for art & design education. He is currently engaged with the coordination of a team of 15 colleague that support education from the perspectives of; pedagogy & didactics, ICT & education, blended-learning, language, vitality, and community experience.

Danai lives with his girlfriend and two children in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
